Wieden+Kennedy needed a director and production company to help their client, Supercell, achieve a big idea. It was time to pay homage to the 10-year anniversary of one of the biggest, cult-like fan-followed video games out there, Clash of Clans. They wanted to do this through a mini mockumentary creating fake history that would honor the invention of the game, the brilliant minds behind it, and its comeback. Other companies only felt they could achieve one piece of the puzzle, such as only the interviews. When W+K came to Spark & Riot and Nalle, we didn’t want to partially deliver, so, with open communication and collaboration, we created a proposal to shoot the entire mini mockumentary, within budget and on schedule.

We shot the entire documentary in Sofia, Bulgaria in four days with two units working 24 hours on 16 cameras from Mini DV and VFX to Super 8, 16mm film, and Alexas.
